Laurie, you know someone's gotta ask WHY? $2200 worth of kite or $800 worth of sail, are we being duped again.

Seriously?
You're dissatisfied there is a brand new $800 sail up for grabs just for picking a cell in a grid?

Seriously,
I just asked the question why the huge segregation between windsurfing and kitesurfing prizes. Didn't mention dissatification whatsoever.
I know its a choice but why aren't the values closer, Even two sails would be a fairer option.
I thought it would be fairly obvious that you would enounter this response, I'm sure I'm only saying what many of us windsurfers are thinking.
I really don't expect anything out of competitions, many of us W/S are the same. Proof in the pudding of the caption comp that has run prize free by the W/S forum for ages.
Equalibrium is the key.

Sado can't lose.
Hay Laurie maybe, recalling all the outcries last time (or was it the time before?), entries only open to "Active" members? Say, only those that have logged at least once during 2009?

It has nothing to do about being grateful and go ahead and blow wind up lauries arse if thats what makes you happy. I find it strange that a prize donor (god bless em) would offer a choice of first prize with two prize values of a significant different dollar value.
It certainly wasn't a personal attack on anybody and I really don't give a **** what the value is or if there is a prize at all.
So if you wish to get on your high horse and condemn me for making an observation that maybe I was the only one to pick up on, go ahead, knock yourself out.

The whole "compeition" thing started because I wanted to show gratitude to you, the visitors of Seabreeze.
There's already plenty to do here, and adding the overhead of running a comp was the last thing needed in terms of extra workload, but I believe when you receive, you should show gratitude.
So, last year, I approached every manufacturer, cap in hand, asking for support, and was blown away how some were really excited about idea, and backed it up with their generosity. Sure, it's good promo for them, but these prizes are paid for in cold hard cash.
The prizes are different, because each business is run differently, they have different goals, different budgets, different overheads, different support from the overseas manufacturer etc etc, so what they are able to supply is going to be different.
For example, Point7 were able to come up with goodies, whereas other manufactures have not been able to supply anything (zip, nadda, zero).
All I could get from the SUP industry for this comp was a paddle, and was luck to get a rod & reel for fishermen.
Personally I'm extremely grateful to be able someting to give away, even if the prize values are different.
These competitions are a result of a lot of time & energy, phone calls, generosity, and a genuine desire to give something back to you, the guys & gals who make Seabreeze such a terrific place to visit.
I sincerely hope you enjoy the competition, despite the disparity in the prizes.
