Thanks all for your positive comments - i was pretty happy with the results.
The helmet cam set ups can be found on helmetcameras.com.au or helmetcamera.com.au - they are competing companies.
about $800 will get you sorted - although you need to already own a digi video camera to record the images to. And check it for lanc (waterproof remote control) compatibility - sonys and canons are the go.
check the website and you will see all you need.
Get a backpack with lots of straps as you want this locked onto your back - and try not to freak out thinking about what happens if water gets into the pelican case (they are pretty reliable actually)
Then you need the stuff to edit it - now things start getting pricey - I use a mac with Final cut pro, motion for fx and DVD studio pro to author dvds - Premiere is the equivalent on a PC. Warning -Capturing and Editing video can be a very time consuming process - but it is fun.
Spend lots of time in bars watching local musicians - many of which are unbelievably good -ask them if they have some stuff that they wouldnt mind you using - most up and comers will be stoked for the exposure - and hey presto you should be able to source your soundtrack too. Of course you could just use anything but you are then wideopen for the lawyer sharks.
