Hi. I just bought a van for the transport and the storage of the windsurf gears for me and my wife. I don't have a garage at home the the gears will stay all the year in the van.
Is it necessary to put a special aeration to dry the gear in the van ?
Without aeration is it safe for the boards and the sail ?
Do you have any suggestion for to build the racks in the van to store the gears ?Any advise is welcome :-)
Thanks

I always take wet gear out of the van to dry, and leave the side door open when parked in the garage. If you do have a garage then a rotating vent is a good idea

vehicles in the sun can get very hot! Venting the van will help get rid of hot air, but all the same I'd make sure board vents are left undone.
The only problem with sails is if they are damp with fresh water, then they can go moldy.
Salt water doesn't seem to be a problem

I have built the (van) racks with masts - mostly old 100 % SDM tops to not lose too much space in height, where also the straps have to pass. Downside is that they are quite springy/bouncy as mast should be in their normal purpose.

My wet gear gave my last car terminal rust, and that was trying to minimise that effect. Leaving wet gear in the car at work all day etc (no choice). But, had window down, but still not good enough. This rust was the biggest issue.

With my van, I made sure I insulated. I used EVA foam and ply wood. Works a treat. See pic below. When I'm at work with gear in the car, I leave the rear and sides open, and hope people are not immature enough to steel something that is worth nothing to them.
