Have 2 UXT's and on both the collar cracked after a couple of sessions. Both where replaced under warranty. One of those is still okay after ca. 20 sessions, other one also cracked after 2 sessions. Got a brand new UXT for that one and still no signs of cracks on that one either after 10+ sessions.

From what I understand the first batch of UXT's had problems with the collar. Later ones should have a better quality collar.

^^^ probably bit late now............ but if it broke that fast you are due a refund or exchange - your choice and they can't make you take exchange. I would go refund to get your $$$ back and then go buy a Chinook or soemthing.

Actually under Australian Consumer Law, which applies to any product purchased after 1 Jan 2011, If the problem is considered minor (can be remedied in a reasonable amount of time) the store can elect to repair, exchange or refund. You can only demand a refund if the store takes too long to repair the item.

Not that this is an issue for most of the shops we deal with, most will bend over backwards to keep you on the water.

^^^ the law about it being unmerchantable quality at point of sail still stands though???

I say a crack is not 'minor' as the load applied is very high so it will surely get worse. I would argue unmerchantable quality and thus refund.

As an aside:

yes Elmo had luck, but appears that most extension collars cracked and consequently a new design is out.

Additionally, most X3 and X6 boom levers cracked a few years ago as the cleat corroded (as they all do) but they used rigid plastic so it split (totally opposite to what all other manufacturers did for years and strangely enough it failed. Duh)

Then most NP spreader bars break as the design is AGAIN different to what everyone else does and the little spot welds are insufficient. Duh.

The masts are fine. The sails are OK. But everything else they make seems to be design/looks/trendy/new taking precendence over durability and function.

NP - are you listening????
