Hi there,
just arrived to townsville and I was wondering if there are any good places for windsurfing nearby. Been to maggy last saturday and there were a couple of kitesurfers. It seemed a good spot but flat. Sunday went to pallarenda and there were 20 kites and 3 windsurfers, but again flat. Is there any place with a bite of a wave? or chop?

thanks

Miguel

Hi there,I sail at Pallaranda usually but have been laid low for the last 5 weeks due to Q fever.Mostly we sail at Palleranda launching from beach access # 10 where you were on Sunday ,it is out of the kiters way, sometimes the Strand is ok but the wind is not as consistant. If you want waves then head down to Alva beach for that,Brian the guy on the wave gear sailing with the kiters on Sunday heads down there often.some times it is worth heading down to Bowen when more wind is forecast down south, there you can have waves and good flat water spots with about 4 different loctions to choose from. Some times it is a good trip up to Cairns and sail over at Green Island where the wind really kicks in.About 4 times a year I head up to Lake Tinaroo on the Atherton Table lands where I have had some great sailing with very strong winds.Anyway I hope some of this info helps you,I hope to catch up with you one of these days.

Radical and balding can be good when the wind and waves are from the right directions. We used to setup and sail around to balding from either horseshoe or radical if we were heading to balding. balding only access is by walking trail. Radical used to have road access to private vehicles (no moke access)

haha, "radical and balding"

I think that might describe a few people on these forums...

If any of you guys in t'vlle are keen to go to alva this sat there's a couple of us from Bowen planning to head up about 7am. Sail over the high tide at 10.30-11.00 for as long as we can and head home sat arve, would be good to have more numbers there.

Yesterday at pallaranda was any thing but flat, wind and waves made for good bump and jump.had some very big gusts come through I was way over powered on a 6 meter, same forecast for the rest of the week but if it happens or not is anyones guess.
