Whilst trying to work out whether Etihad Airlines will carry my windsurfing gear I came across their baggage allowance section which reads.

General information
Etihad Airways accepts the carriage of falcons and guide dogs to lead the blind in the main aircraft cabin provided that all the necessary health documents and important licenses have been obtained.

Any other animals must travel as cargo and are not permitted within the aircraft cabin or checked baggage.

??? Falcons are accepted in the cabin also.
??? Guide dogs to lead the blind are permitted in the aircraft cabin for flights from Abu Dhabi to USA and vice versa only provided necessary documents are provided. However they may only be accepted as checked baggage free of charge. (Please contact local Etihad Airways office for detailed information).

I can just picture it now. Your sitting on the plane trying to get some shut eye and the next minute a bird lands on your head or starts pecking at your tucker

I don't suppose your board is a Fanatic Falcon, is it?

I've never been to the Middle East but apparently falcons are like up market lap-dogs for wealthy sheiks. A little more interesting and useful than a chihuahua though. There was a segment about it on "Bondi Vet" (which you probably don't get in the UK), where the vet visited a clinic which exclusively treats falcons, including repairing broken feathers. Kinda like a sail repair, I guess. There were also shots of falcons being carried by Arabs in the airport.

Just don't order the rabbit pie.

I took a live rabbit on a plane in the US, in the main cabin with me.
It was too cold to put her in the hold so she came on board with me!
Fortunately she was small enough to fit in a box that would fit under the seat in front.
