...of questions, most important is the fin size one. I'm sure some have been answered before so apologies if I'm repeating. I'm sure some have been answered before so apologies if I'm repeating.

1. Fin Size - What fin for what conditions on what board, What's the "rule of thumb"? I'm riding a 110 litre slalom with a 36cm fin which is good up to about 20 knots then gets very unstable over 25 knots (although this is very likely rider assisted). I sail in SE QLD so it's usually blowing between 15-30 knots and I'm using a 5.7 and a 6.4, but never at the same time. I have big furry ears and I like vodka.

I'm thinking around 26cm for the 2nd fin, Yay/Nay?

2. Sail Size, not the usual question - My board has a sail range of 5.5 - 7.5. What will happen if I go over this range, will my head explode?

3. Kites - Why do kites need such long lines?

4. The unanswerable - Why is it that no matter which day you pick to take off work to go sailing the forecast is wrong and you have worked 10 hour days all week for nothing? Nothiiing?!!

hmm.....

being an expert and having had vast years experience with your gear i would say.....

1. 2nd fin 30 or 28cm.

2. your board is no good with bigger than 7.5, i tried.

3. it's a falic thing.

4. Karma.

dunno

3. Kites - Why do kites need such long lines?

Facetious answer: because kites make you look uncool and kiters want to try and get as far away from their kite as possible. Similar to the teenage son walking 5 paces behind/infront his parents.

Real answer: More room to manoeuvre the kite (doing figure of 8s with the kite is similar to pumping a windsurfer - it gets more air flowing over the foil), better wind higher up.

4. The unanswerable - Why is it that no matter which day you pick to take off work to go sailing the forecast is wrong and you have worked 10 hour days all week for nothing? Nothiiing?!!

The forecast was probably wrong all week. You only notice it when you actually go sailing.
