should be called the dog bowl.. pretty good port tack freestyle spot anyway.. I sailed there twice last season, way more fun than the doldrums on the other side!.. nice flaka>
Did you mention the word kiters??? mate dont go talking about kiters in a windsurf forum. The kiters do use it, but there were just windsurfers around that day. I saw about 3 over at the surf beaech tho. Still the windurfers out numbered them. Yes the 2 poles are for boats and windsurfers they tell us the depth, there our best mates out on the water. The tide constantly moves at the PIT real fast.This is only a small part of the inlet, tho, the PIT is alot bigger than this, just on the other side my batterys went flat, so did not get much footage..
Flips movie starts with the main surf beach not the speed strip, great for wave sailing. The rest is showing what we call the "Boat Hole" which when the tide goes out forms a small lake area with a shallow channel leading out to the inlet,hence the poles.Only sailable in a E or NW with a high tide. it's the dog bowl / duck pond - only works on an easterly between mid-tide and mid-high tide, when the part where Flipper is stood is uncovered yet there's still enough water in there.
Any later than this on a decent easterly and the chop gets too much as the sandbank that Flip is stood on gets covered.
wonder why kiters never use this place to do record runs too-ooops
