Yesterday a few Australind guys went to visit Hardies as we'd heard so much about it. I felt it appropriate to let you guys know how much it was appreciated to be made to feel welcome. Special note to Marty who took the time to show us the local hazards. It's a great spot you have there, shame the wind didn't do it for us. What a joy not to have to trip over kite lines, and kiters everywhere, going on about how their sunnies match their tan etc. How did you discourage them from sailing there?
Anyway thanks, and sorry but we're gonna visit you again

Just a question,
being from WA....long ago..... where is this place "hardies" you refer to.
Is it Hardy Inlet at Augusta.

Thanks

Aha... i get the understanding..... simple really,

Thanks Grumplestiltskin.

I know also understand the recent post re; elmo and cobblers, destruction of fins and equipment on shallow obstacles. Spent a lot of my youth and not so youthfull days speed skiing on the estuary and sailing out front of Mandurah

cheers

Appreciate your kind words, re Kiters, they actually have the best spot on the Estuary which is Wannanup beach, stronger winds, side shore with no hazards, we have the longer run though. Just works well we sail here and they kite there. The Estuary is huge so enough good spots for all sports to grab their own little bit.

no hardie you cant give those kiters any ground. You give a little bit more room each time and then all of a sudden they have taken over. They are the same everywhere, devils they are.

Think there are a few rumblings down at the pond about this very issue. Word is they let them use it for a comp last season and they wont move out.
Hopefully this will be sorted shortly

The thing with hardie's run, is the trees at all the launch spots. makes it very off putting for kite's.
Kiter's beach at wannanap is much better for them.

I had a great wave sail with the local kiters today, for quite a while I was the only windsurfer amongst half a dozen kites, no problems at all.
We were all at the same break and sharing the waves between us. No conflict, good fun.
But we were all focused on the waves, so we knew what each other was likely to do.

It's a bit different mixing a windsurfing speed run with kiters in and out tricks.

Hey Decrepit. I was almost about to join you this arvo but decided to drive in the opposite direction.
How windy did it get and how big were the waves? Did it get head high?
I managed to score some logo high waves with no more than 8 others out... and not a single kite.
The last hour of sunlight was a treat! The wind picked up a notch and swung cross off. The waves got bigger and more consistant. They also smoothed out quite nicely.
