Ditto.

Well organised event with a great legacy. I hope that it can always remain such an open event where everyday sailors can compete alongside the professionals.

I know that its pretty full on to organise, run and the cost of the LOC but why is it only held once a year?
Is there anyway WWA can hold a similar event but on a lower scale? Minus the choppers, media, party etc?
A Ledge to Lano without the boats? Just a start and finish line.
Im guessing there are people who probably already do this run but with a mate or two.
It could be a good event on a smaller scale of 20-50 sailors?
Crap idea?

Mandurah Marathon guys, all organised, but on the day no air pressure so it was a dud day....sadly.
Huge effort from the Mandurah Mob GPSTC crew, to get it up. Maybe something later Hardie yes?

minus the party thats the best bit!!!!!
My LOC story left Perth at 4.30pm saw Greeny and family cruising home.Got to Lano just after 5.30 slowly rigged and hit water just after 6. everyone else had come in.Sailed main break till 7 with a couple of others.
Then hit the pub at 8.30 with wife and friends then met up with the boys and got hammered. Awesome day

Good idea Greeny but dont minus the pub

A really fun event even for spectators. The Ledge to Lancelin road race is always exciting too. I have it all worked out now and finished 6th this year! Had to slow down at one point for a family of young emus by the roadside, but that was an added bonus. It was fun to share the party with lots of friends (thanks GPSTC!)and the fireworks were fantastic.
I'll be back next year... I might do the ocean race next time...
