Anyone ridden both? Ill prob be getting a Rocket from the last 5 or so years rather than the latest due to budget.

Go the Tabou.

I've never liked Carves.

Then again, I've never ridden the Tabou. But one of my mates here really rates them (and she's sailed a lot of different free-ride boards).

I have used both briefly a long while back. From memory the Tabou (blue and orange graphics) was looser and better in swell and small waves but a bit bouncier in chop. The Carve was more free ride orientedand had a bigger sail range. I found the tabou rocket 95 wasn't comfortable below 5.8m. I did use the Tabou pro ed so it may have been a bit slappier in chop as a result.

if your that worried about budget and price,
go for the cheapest.
Its not like one of them is going to be twice as good as the other.

Wasn't comfortable below 5.8m..? If so that'll be a problem for me then as Ill be using it with 5m down..What do you mean by not comfortable? How much do you weigh? ( sailboarding must be one of the only areas where you can ask someone their weight and not get thumped.....)

Sorry, I obviously failed to explain this clearly.

I do not like Starboard Carves.

You do.

You are welcome to your opinion.

I was expressing mine.
