Yes sorry I know buy n sell is the place but this is unconventional...

I wanna try a large US box Freeride fin in my 92L EVO for lightwind B&J when waves are crap and it is 12-15kn. Just in case it doesn't work well, I don't really want to spend $140+ on a new fin.

I have a brand spankers Select 19.5cm wave fin.

Surely there is somebody who has gone from freeride to waves and needs a small winter fin???

Hey Mark
Tried something similar with my 83L evo tried the a 28 cm freeride fin with a 5.7 sail it felt realy bad. Wont use anything bigger than a 25 cm wave fin now. Wouldn't try anything over 28 on a 92 evo.

What do u mean by felt bad? I realise it won't turn like a waveboard anymore, and I am only intending to use it on flatwater.

I just think it will plane a couple knots earlier with my 6.1 that's all

Mark to me it felt way over fined with the more upright fin, I even had trouble getting planing because the board was rounding up into the wind also when planing it was railing up in the gusts and the slight side current on the bay was very noticable. As soon as I changed back to the wave fin [Select X1 Wave 25] all those problems went away. I found the 23 wave fin that came with the 83 evo to small for my 5.7 but the 23 works nicely with my 4.4. I suppose u have to try a bigger fin and find what is best suited to you, maybe a slightly bigger freeride type of board is the answer for those days you are talking about.

Mark, I agree with Jman. I've got a 93 JP FSW, and use a 25cm freeride with a 5.3 and a 28cm freeride with a 5.9. I have tried a 32cm, with a 6.6, but it just stiffens the board up a bit too much and just feels too big, taking away from the boards manouverable feel. I reckon 28 to 30 is what you want.

Regards,
Harrow.

Yes I know but that is what I want!!! Somthing to put a bit of pressure against and get going a little easier now and then. I wavesail DTL 99% of the time. I just want a bigger fin to plane a little earlier on the flat days, manoueverability is of no concern as it will be for B&J in really light winds with my 6.0. The kind of days that I can either plane, or grovel upwind..... but not get planing and stay upwind as well. A 28-30 freeride fin will make the days where I could only plane of a broad reach worthwhile going out.
I will use it maybe 3 or 4 times a year when it is sh!t.

Anyone??????
