Yeah that was the first time tried that fin with that combo. The board is 75W which handled the 24 delta much better than I expected. A little loose but no big deal.

Cheeky, I was watching that sand patch approaching and was thinking uh oh you should be going around that, when bam... KO'd!!

Lol no worries Cheeky. Yep that didn't look fun. We should start a stacking thread! There are 2 of those long sandbars up that end that will catch you and unfortunately that's the way I figured out which is which. Although I still clench when I go over any large patch of sand up that end. The rest of the strip is pretty predictable, apart from the foreign objects like sleepers, milk crates, crab pots, wheelie bins, UFO's etc Actually a shopping trolley would be handy!

That's really shallow, even shallower than Lake George and Lake George has a very soft bottom to the lake so if your fin hits bottom it just ploughs through the mud.

What is bottom of the lake where you sail at Primbee. It's looks solid. Over the years, has anyone hurt themselves badly as a consquence of crashing at speed in such shallow water?

MartinF2, Id love carbon booms but not in the budget this year. A couple of carbon booms would be equal to about half my kit lol. One day!

Cheers Eckas, yeah I was stoked with that combo. You cant throw it around like the smaller gear but so nice to cruise on. If I wasn't so stuffed from the previous 2 days I could have smashed out a Km PB for sure.

John340, the bottom is a combo of muddy/silty parts and sandy patches. Firm in places and softer in others. The depth is very predictable from one end to the other so once you get to know the place you can relax and enjoy the ride. I cant think of any serious injuries that I know of. I've not hurt myself any more in the shallows than I have in the chop out in the middle. As for high speed crashes, I seem (fingers crossed) to come off better at speed and hurt myself more at 20kts.
