I've been shopping for some new straps, the SB ones seem to be priced fairly and are adjustable from the top with what appears to be an easy to use strap and buckle system. Anyone using them and some feedback please will help me decide.

The SB ones are destined for the Kona which have useless non-adjustable ones, too much sideways foot movement.

BTW I modified the rear collapsing pair on the Fanatic X-Cross, they are aftermarket ones....Sunshine I think. By fitting an L-piece from a plastic oil drum they worked a treat. Rigid enough to stay upright but not rigid enough to be too stiff. Works well with my new split toe boots too.

Is this the one where a velcro strap goes thru a stainless rectangle thing so it doubles back on itself? And you don't have to open the cover to adjust - just rip up the velcro and pull it tighter? Bit like velcro straps on kid's shoes?
If so, they are not much good as u can't get much range of adjustment.

Better is the old school one - where the cover is split lengthwise at the top, you open that up and there is 3 layers of velcro inside which makes it adjustable plus or minus about 3 inches. The first system I mentioned is lucky to adjust about an inch.
I have 2 or 3 y/o Stuart Bell ones like latter, and the Starboard ones like the latter (on 3-5 y/o Evo's etc) and they are by far the best IMO. Sometimes the original design is the best

The stock JP footstarps are pretty good. Comfortable but not too soft.

Yup that's the one. I'm trying to find a quick adjust type so I can adjust when I sail without booties. If they offer an inch that should be good enough, as they don't have a secondary velcro flap I was wondering if they can burst open under extreme pressure and another concern was if they stay propped up.

I can't believe the asking price of most foot straps and these Stuart Bell ones are priced right.

Noskinka I find they don't have enough adjustment for different feet, let alone booties which add a LOT
I doubt they would adjust enough for bare foot to booties
Sounds like u have a tradeoff between best range of adjustment and fast

With the 3 or 4 'fold over' velcro style ones why not just mark two positions (white paint pen or something) on the first fold so you can just switch between the two marks? Saves the guess work, would be just as fast imo.

i use Pat Love straps and MFC straps both use this system and they work fine for me.very quick and easy to adjust on the beach.
The best thing is you can adjust them perfectly with your foot in them. The old split ones always seem to take 3 or 4 goes to get them right and then its a bitch to get the velcro to join back in the middle.
I adjust them when there wet as it gives you more movement
I only adjust them once a year when i go up north when i need my boots and they work perfect and you can even adjust them on the water
