Take a look at the clip here...a long time ago in a place very strange, people were windsurfing on bizarre stuff. Who says you can't sail a tree? A xylophone? A hot dog?

lol, thats a good one. Looks like Starboard development team footage. The first prototype shown in the clip is now known as the "serenity"

They all looked like how I felt I looked when I first started this crazy and awsome sport.

Nice find,
Cheers GT

I'm not realy sure who i think it was Robbie Naish but he said that you could windsurf on anything flat. Someone took him up on this offer and rocked up with a door. So Robbie ended up windsurfing on a door and proved all you need is something flat as a board.

I know that Naish story...but sailing a door is one thing...how about a tree! The hot dog! I like the sense of humor here...we have Superfreak sails with some interesting designs, but nobody is out there windsurfing on genuinely goofy stuff.

Glad you liked it! From the same period is the following old-school freestyle demonstration:

Obviously you young fella's never learnt on a Windsurfer One Design.
Damn fine fun and a great learning curve. I remember falling of a thousand times, sore knees from climbing back and bloody sore shins from the T piece uni coming out of the board. LG
