Yep it works, but leave the bottom batten as is, and do the next 2, and probably more than the last 1/3. I was told how much, and it varies with the 2 battens, think it's something like 1/2 way for the batten above the boom, and a bit less than that for the next one up.
I've done my 5.3 and 4.7 and certainly seems to help, but I haven't sailed them enough like that to be able to say how much.
I've now got a 5.2 fully cambered sail, so I'm thinking of stiffening either my wife's 4.5 or my 4.2 wave sails, for the real strong days.

What year model Ezzys are we talking about here? I've got '07 and '08 wave SE's and unless you're sailing in a cyclone holding up a 5.8 the draft deadset does not move.

'05, bought em Xmas '06. I wasn't aware they did anything to the battens though.

So Decrep, are you just sliding a glass tubular batten over a round rod?

I did a rough deflection test a while back to compare the stiffness of an Ezzy infinity batten (rectangular section glass) to an Aerotech pulltruded glass tube and they were very similar in stiffness. The tube was just a tiny bit stiffer.

I think you'd need a very big tube to slide over those rectangular rods.

I was thinking I'd have to epoxy carbon onto the rods. A bloke about here who is a bit of a wizard with carbon (he built his own masts) recommended bonding carbon on with epoxy and taping it. I was going to chase him for details.

I'm using 2nd hand slalom sail tubes, they're black but not sure if they're carbon or not. I've made them up as separate battens, so I can use the originals in bigger waves.
I have the impression the tube battens may break a bit easier.

That's the way these slalom battens are, black tube joins round batten, there's a little plastic tube with a collar on it, round batten slides in it, then that slides into tube. collar acts as stop.

I can imagine that would work as well, but remember when you put a thin layer of carbon over a thick layer of glass, the glass no longer takes any load, the carbon takes it all. So you'll need enough carbon to take all the load, enough to just give the stiffness you want may fail causing the batten to break.

Sorry JP, I haven't had enough experience to give you any guidance with this, I've only been using cambered sails for 10 months.
But at a guess I'd think further back for light winds, further forward for high winds.
Could be totally wrong here, somebody else may be qualified to comment.

nada a problem decrep, i really thought you were mostly into cammed sails since you do speed runs most of the time
