I rode my 122 ltr 2007 Carve yesterday, hadn't sailed it in about a year, it was bloody awesome fun, very fast comfy ride, gybes are so much easier on these boards.
I've got a 2006 110 Carve and a 2005 98 JP FreeStyleWave. I honestly find the JP far easier to gybe, I've yet to plane out of one with the carve. I know, weird. Could be just be the curvy FSW fin vs a MFC Liquid Pro?
Still I absolutely love the Carve from 15-20 knots, or protected, flat water above that. Crisp and fast. But I find the crispness completely teeth shattering in sizeable chop. Needs flat water. Again the JP smokes it in chop.
Planes early too. A 7.2 KA Koyote and a 40cm MFC Liquid pro, If a kite can plane I can plane. Often better 'cause I can float in the holes.
The carve is best off the wind on flat water with too big a sail

... having two boards is good
