Looking at buying either of these boards, can you give me your thoughts please?

I am of Intermediate ability, weigh 95-100 kgs and am looking to sail 80% flat water, and the rest in chop /sea etc

I was looking at the 07 model, cant wait for 08 boards,

I bought a 111L 07 carve at the end of summer as my light wind board and I love it. By the sound of it I'm about the same build and have not trouble at all blasting around in 15 knots using a 6.4 freeride sail. The 111L is plenty big enough and could carry heaps more sail if required and still works well when the wind kicks in if you go down on fin size.

I think the 122L would be too big in a nice steady 6.4 to 5.8 breeze which we often get.

Don't let anyone tell you a carve is not fast. I have blasted off plenty of the local slalom heroes here that are using s-types etc. You would to be a pro to notice or achieve any difference in performance.

You will not regret getting carve. There is a rumour that starboard might change the name this year.

Thanks Tim,

I heard that the Carve is being combined with the S-Type for 08,

Interesting that you think 122 will be too big, decissions

hi divaldo
im about 70 to 74 kg adn have a carve 111lter, i use that for upto about 18 to 20 knotts on flat water, well relitivly, however my dad who is about 95 to 100kg uses it no wories in about 22 knots for fast sailing with no wories with it sinking, if i where you i wouldnt go for the 120leater because it is alot wider and less manuverable, but my mate who has the 130 and is about 90kg and he ueses that in all conditions, wich i find crazy.
if your main sailing is in about 18 to 25 knotts, i wouldnt go past the 111 because it is float you enouph to uphaul when there is a lul, but it will keep you flying when there isnt,
just remember it is a very fast board, and very easy to moove freely with,

The most important piece of info is missing. What is the most common wind strength you will use it in your location. Here in QLD a 120ltr would be way better for a 90kg person because the wind is more often lighter than sronger. Is it your only board or does it compliment another? I've owned two Carve 111's and a carve 131 and 145. now have SType 115 (which is really 117) and a Stype 93 which is really 99ltrs and Hypersonic for light wind. The most used board up here is a 120ltr or bigger. So you need to look at all these things to get a true idea of what is spot on for you. Sail's you have would also be good info.

Thanks for the tips everyone, firstly, we sail mainly in 18-23knt winds, but occaisionally we sail in 10-15 which I was thinking a larger volume board would be best.
I am a competent water starter so uphauling is never an issue, actually cant remember the last time I did that!
My current board is a 107 ltr Bic Vivace, super fast board, but not so good in chop, hence the carve, softer rails etc being my choice.
Thinking 111 is gonna be the best option
Thanks fo all your feedback.

I love you all!
