I've enjoyed watching the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks live on ONE hd TV.

Some of the competitors have opted to wear a GPS meter.

The speed and distance travelled during the heat has been measured.

The speeds recorded are right up there.

Speed-poleys need to find a wave to get those extra knots.

I was watching it yesterday as well

They are nowhere near the speeds of windsurfers.

There only getting about 33km/h

Not 33 knots.

speed sailing is wind assisted dickhead, not wave assisted...

47 kmh.........Thats half the speed of our top speed sailor- Chris Lockwood- (92.7 kmh/ 50.09 knots)

And if its GPS its point to point, not water speed. I think water speed would be greater than point to point.

Have to say, who cares ??

Surfboard speed the same relevance to windsurfing as it does to surfing, which is nil.
Not sure why they even bothered.
