Came across a character by the name of Michel de Montaigne, a French philosopher who lived in the 16th century. Here is a small sample of some of his quotes:

“A man who fears suffering is already suffering from what he fears. “

“A straight oar looks bent in the water. What matters is not merely that we see things but how we see them. “

“Age imprints more wrinkles in the mind than it does on the face. “

“He who establishes his argument by noise and command shows that his reason is weak. “

“There is no conversation more boring than the one where everybody agrees.”

“How many condemnations I have witnessed more criminal than the crime! “

“How many things we held yesterday as articles of faith which today we tell as fables. “

“I prefer the company of peasants because they have not been educated sufficiently to reason incorrectly.”

“I write to keep from going mad from the contradictions I find among mankind - and to work some of those contradictions out for myself.”

“If there is such a thing as a good marriage, it is because it resembles friendship rather than love."

Looks as if life hasn't changed that much in the last 500 or so years.

5 centuries later...and all still relevant today.

I like Will Rogers' quotes (I know, yank cowboy...not as sophisticated...but a bit humorous & still relevant.) -

A remark generally hurts in proportion to its truth.

Advertising is the art of convincing people to spend money they don't have for something they don't need.

Buy land. They ain't making any more of the stuff.

Do the best you can, and don't take life too serious.

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save. (my favorite quote!)

Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier 'n puttin' it back in.

You've got to go out on a limb sometimes because that's where the fruit is.

I'd like to Quote what a great great man once said, "The best things in life have no strings attached."
Can't remember where I read it though, but he has my highest respect

Not been playing too much of late, spending a lot more time listening to music than actually playing it.

Have recently heard an album recorded last year by Australian guitarist Brett Garsed titled "Dark Matter". As Molly would say, "do youself a favour" and have a listen.

Brett Garsed and fellow Aussie Frank Gambale are flying the flag on the world stage of "serious guitarists". They are both much better known overseas than in their home country.

Cheers
