Hi all,

I am a seasoned sailor, and I am stuck in my ways as far as equipment goes, and still prefer my custom 1980's board over the new boards available today. The problem that I have is that I have just snapped the last fin that I have which was designed for my board. The fin is an old design with a slot in it intended to reduce cavitation.

I done some research and cannot find it for sale anywhere online.
Does anyone have knowledge of where I can get this fin, or have one lying around in their shed somewhere?

Thanks,

Roy

The new fins are a Huge improvement on what your using and don't need the slot to perform. The slot was there to improve a bad design and bad materials that were too soft. An old 'finworks' or similar would be an easier choice to find and would work better than what you have been using.

^^^ +1

I think you need to spend a bit longer on new stuff to appreciate it.

IIRC the only slot fin still made is a wave fin by True Ames. It is a modern shape though and for specific use, and has a small 60mm ish slot.
That thing in the pic has no thought whatsoever to flex or twist and does not do anything well.

LOL, I remember the slotted fins, Multifins slotted fins. Spinout isn't an issue nowdays unless you sail like an idiot or your fin is damaged. Dovey007 its time to say goodbye to Bob Hawke as PM, the Apple 2 and Falcon XDs. Try out some new gear. Its seriously better than the stuff that was around in the 80s. You are not writing this post on a Commodore 64 are you?

Just to be clear the board is the only part of the equipment that I am still holding onto- I am using the latest Neil Pryde sails, masts etc. The board is a custom designed carbon fibre wave slalom and prefer my board because it is faster and more versatile than many of the modern boards. Its not a commodore 64 computer vintage, rather a vintage porsche body with the latest modern Porsche engine! I'll look into some of the fins mentioned above, thanks.

In this modern and high technology world which is also called the ???information era???. There is no doubt that people now want to own the life that is safe and free and do the thing that they like and want to do. And usually such kind of life is not so easy to own for some people and as they are monitored by some device. If so the jammer types can be your good assistant.

yes I have one its pink and it's going cheep $150 ill throw in a little fin that sits in the front about 30mm
the 30mm fits over where you would normally screw the fin and there is a screw in the 30cm tab that holds it all together
the fins are and probably the best design ever but unfortunately they don't work with out that little 30mm tab at the leading edge

If that is the case then use a modern fin - will only make the board better!
