I came very close to colliding with a kiter at Woodies on Wednesday doing close to 35K. He unfortunately chose to boost into my path without looking...as kiters are wont to do.

I literally stepped off my board and the board and rig came to rest no more than 2 metres from where he crashed into the water, after spotting me when he was airborne and pretty much out of options.
Prior to this incident I had been happily sharing the strip with two other kiters, who displayed some respect and awareness of what I was doing, as I did to them. They even did a few downwind runs of their own.
It was hell windy (28-33K) and I think windsurfers are entitled to sail the north side of Woodies in prime speedsailing weather (I won't bother sailing there unless it's honking...it ain't worth the risk).
Kiters need to
look before they boost!!! It's only common sense. I would never gybe without looking behind me to see if there is anyone aft or downwind of me, yet I constantly see kiters at Woodies boosting without checking if there is anyone in their path. WTF is that about??
