Hi Everyone,

I have a naish firestick 430 RDM (60%) mast. I'm thinking of trying serverne sails with it. At the moment interested in severne NCX or turbo. Not sure if these sails will work with naish mast bend curve. also if turbo will work with an RDM mast. In Australia it's easier to get second hand severne stuff.
If anyone has experience with naish masts with serverne sails or severne sails with RDM masts , comemnts welcome

I use a Firesticks %85 for my 5.7 blade and 6.3 S1 and it works well. It's an older Naish mast and I think they changed the curve on them in the last couple of years. You can get smaller cams to adapt the Turbo to a skinny mast.

my mast is around 4 years old...I guess looking at the comments it would fit fairly closely ....maybe try my mast if someone has severne sail at the local club in Elwood

I use a naish 430 rdm 100 firestick with a severne 6.0 gator. It goes well.

We rig our Naish sails on constant curve ezzy masts and they rig perfect. So Severne are hard top. Naish are meant to.be hard top...
Now someone says Severne are going more constant curve???
So confusing, I say rig them on it and see how it looks. Or better still compare it side by side/on the water to one rigged on manufactures mast

If you want it to work really well i suggest you get a severne sticker and put it over the naish logo,, or vice versa

All masts are stiffer down the bottom half than they are in the top half. A broom stick is constant curve, not a windsurf mast!..

Stiff top, Constant Curve, and Hard top is a pretty basic description.. It's like describing the rocker of a board as 'wave', 'Race' and 'Mistral'.. It's a good start but don't take it to the bank..

Anyway,

If you want to mix and match masts, at the bare minimum. Rig the sail on the specified mast, take a look, then try it on your 'other' mast.. If they're way out, take it into consideration..

If you're looking at a sail that's on the other side of the country, and aren't sure that it'll work, be prepared to upgrade your mast at some point.

Sometimes they'll work really well, I sailed my S-1's on my Gaastra 100's and it didn't slow me down until I broke em all. Then I had to use my Powerex

Either way, SV masts haven't changed the bend curves. Mast or sail, 2010 or 2015 they're all backwards compatible.
