Hey Nebs, are you interested in a sail at golf course tweed to save a trip? Will be good tide from midday onward.

Or

how bout a morning sail at shearwater and then arvo sail at train? Tide good for shearwater till midday-ish

dodgy sse forecast which really means south by the looks

Ey Haircut,

I'd love to check out the golf course, but want to get a new (bigger) fin from Surf FX... so it looks like it will be shearwater then the train. Luckily they're open 12-4 tomorrow, public holidays suck!!

See you 9-ish at shearwater

hi guys, if the wind is up, shearwater for me

hey Haircut, ive been sailing up there regardless of tide, its no real big issue, I just use a big fin for plenty of pointing ability, I sailed there on saturday in "only just planing" wind, and still had no big issue in a SE with incoming tide, its just so much more fun than the Train IMO :)

Ill be keen on sailing both places, shearwater am and train pm if you kids are doing same

seeya on the water!

Comrade Firiebob,

Have you been in Cairns for many years ?
I used to live and sail up there in early 90's with my brother.
We had small white ute covered in windsurfing stickers
I knew man called Bob who was fireman... is this man you ?

Hey Haircut,

Didn't see you at the train, did you stay at shearwater all day? Probably better wind up there, there was a bit too much west in it at the train, most of the afternoon was gusty slop but there was one hour of 20 knots SE... all the kitesurfers got scared and there was only me out

Before that I managed to run over a rescue line that some kiteboarding teacher was using to tow a student back to the sandbar... screaming along on the plane, went behind the jetski, saw a small red thing in the water, avoided that, and then thump thump I hit the towrope with my brand spanking new fin. I wish they'd tell you when they're dragging 50 metres of line along just under the surface!

Yep Kremlin, I'm the man.
Had the red cattle dog Mozz.

I'm guessing you're one of the Gastra Brothers, Steve ?
Hope life's treating you well, and your Tiga sh-t is long gone.

Yorkies is tea bag heaven now, only a few of us pole boarders left.
If you're interested, today was great, too good for most of the tea bags.

Cheers,
Bob.

howdy. yeah i sailed most of the day at the shearwater because there wasn't much variation in the tide, so it wasn't running very quick after it turned. Were you on your own most of the day? Did u damage your fin?

firiebob - are there more windsurfers about these last 18 months than the last few years up your way? The goldcoast seems to be experiencing a windsurfing revival

Na Mate, about the same for a few years now. Some come, some go.

Loads of tea baggers, some ex windsurfers but a lot of new blood. Also far too many tea bag tourests over winter (best time), they're starting to roll up now.
The problem is we don't have any shops up here stocking new windsurf gear, only a couple of shops that sell kites. So wanabes can't walk in and look at gear. The beach is over run with kites, so the young fellas are drawn to that.

Bloody shame, cos our gear is so good now.
A bit more than you asked, lol.

Cheers,
Bob.

Many kitesurfers out, about a dozen, apparently there was a teabagging school going on or something. Only about 4 poleys at the best of times, when that big SE came through there was only me, I was wondering what everyone else knew! None of the usual suspects there, apart from sad sack. Fin is fine, although the towrope I ran over is a bit the worse for wear

Was thinking about going to shearwater but then thought "I'm here so why not make the most of it..." Learnt heaps, fantastic session. You going out tomorrow?
