Hi,

I just got lent a RSX rig from the South Australian Institute of Sport Sailing coach. I haven't had a chance to have a good look at it. I notice there is ropes going everywhere and a cleat on both sides of the boom but by the looks of things may not be set up right or at all. If anyone could point me to a site or put some pics of their sail rigged and all I need is the clew end so I can see how to do it tomorrow when I have time.

Just make sure you have a backup sail...

Don't rig it on a windy day coz the webbing at the top may rip out...

Don't rig it on a windless day because the webbing at the top may rip out...

If you have the correct mast, be sure to bring a spare, because it may break while you are rigging it...

...and, above all, have fun!!!!

I started to rig it but the rope on the extension when you go to push it through the cleat it compresses and causes it to get bigger and doesn't fit through the bloody hole so I need to grab a rope off of one of my extensions which are at the beach house.

Cheers for the info

Funny you should say this. I just went through 3 bits of rope because the outside sheath pulls back when you try to put it through the cleat. Damn annoying. It's the spectra rope which is meant to be the toughest. Even getting the shop to properly burn off the edges, doesn't always help. I've since changed to, I think it is called, nylon pre-stretch, which works better and MUCH cheaper.

try marlows formuline 4mm, it has no sheath to be pushed back, and runs way smoother. problem solvered

I agree sandman, that formuline rope is the easiest to downhaul, it rolls through pulleys so smoothly.

My wife was having trouble downhauling her 7m and 8m, so I got her a winch and some formuline rope (what else could a woman want??)

She doesnt need the winch now, she can downhaul it nearly the whole way using her harness bar with the formuline rope, and I just tweak the last bit for her.

Great rope!
