Riding above the chop

I've heard people talk about their boards just riding on the fin above the chop and being smoother..Does that only happen with certain types of boards? Would I know if I had a board that sailed like that?
Does it only happen with A1 riders and hyper speed?

This happen too me at Lake George on windy Tuesday but was more like a 10cm ripple bloody unreal feeling at 40 to 43kts each run.
I was on my JP Speed50 you would know it if you had this conditions I had.

That's those ones that have hydrofoils

For the rest of us, try and push hard laterally on the fin and at the same time lift the front foot in the strap. You need power and sheet is as much as possible.

Long flexible fin and push hard on the rails! Love it!

Ok. So it doesn't really sound like something an intermediate would do easily..If you are that powered up in chop I imagine gybing would be interesting..
