Can anyone recommend a replacement fin for my 2004 starboard hypersonic 111.
I know that these boards are very particular with fin choice and I was wondering if anyone with a hypersonic or someone with experience with hypersonics can give me some advice.
I am looking for a replacement for the stock Drake SR6b 34cm which snapped clean off at the base the last time I was out, luckily 50m from the beach on the return trip to Kurnell from
Kyeemagh.
The standard fin was quite stiff and required a fairly locked in stance to get the most out of it, I would like to get another fin with similar characteristics to the SR6b as I found out the Drake SR6b is no longer made, any recommendations?

i had a 2003 105 Hyper and the 34techonic gold wing was spot on. The 111 is the same width and outline so i cant see why it wouldnt work nicely for ya

i had a 38 c3 venom om my 105 that was perfect, very quick.
i still have the fin if you want to buy it. still like new.

the hypersonics are a very good board nothing quite like it these days.

For my Hypershizzle 105- same profile -I have a jp 31 weedy I run with 5.5 to 7.3 and in light stuff a 60cm formula race fin and 7.3
I sold the Drake as it was too thick, bit slow and there is better stuff out there.
Wacky set up but done 27.88 on it. Most ridden board in my quiver.

Tried with a drake /deboichet 32 off my iso 86 and that was no good.

Benders on the money- go a goldwing 34

Wow..
I only use a 47 (flexi) fin in my 105
Love the light air ride.. it's the best in 8-12
if it's windy i change boards !
never used a 34 in that board

Love the hyper 105
for light wind

Thanks for the recommendations guys!

I think i will end up getting a Vector Rockit which is very similar to the old techonic gold wing.

Happy sailing!

Tech Spec.
Length: 218cm
Width: 77cm
Volume: 111L
Weight: 7.7 kg
Fin: Drake Slalom 340 and Slalom 420cm
Sail Range: 6.0m-9.0m

With these specs i would be using about a 36 to 38 as an all-round size. If you wanna speedsail go for the 34, but if you wanna windsurf back n forth slalom style definitely go bigger.

Just by looking at 77 wide spec and the wide looking tail, i would definitely go for:

34 with 6.0m
36 with 7.0m
38 with 8.0m
40 with 9.0m

Vector Volt or C3 sting 2

Select slalom fins work for me and come at a reasonable price.

HS wants to carry a smaller fin than other boards of that volume for a given sail size. Sub 6m sail I would run smaller (even sub 30cm) fin. Larger fin may have control issues and too stiff in the turns for my liking.
