Stoked that's back. I learned how to do this on flat water in two afternoons courtesy of this vid and some serious encouragement from Rich W at Dendy St.

Go for it!

My tips for things to really pay attention to:
1 - Don't EVER let go of the boom

2 - Turn super-downwind as you chop-hop / jump into the loop - this means you don't get ripped out of the straps and you stand a much better chance of taking the board with you

3 - Throw the rig forward and UPWIND - if you think you're throwing it forward and UPWIND enough, you're not. Do it more. If necessary move your hands back on the boom a few inches to give you more projection.

That's basically about it!

I spend a couple of days faffing around trying it off chop and small waves at slow speed - like steps 1 - 3 in the video - whilst constantly looking for the perfect wave to really go for it. Eventually got really annoyed and out of frustration tried one on the way in on flatish water, hence removing the whole ramp dependency.

15 attempts like that - with Rich yelling at me to do everything more and take off more downwind one afternoon and the next afternoon another 5 attempts and I water-started out of one.

Remko made so much money from the "7 sons of freestyle" video he retired from professional windsurfing and is now living in the Caribbean
