Haircut said...freestyle - loveit or hateit, it'll probably be windsurfing's saviour

Can only second that. The windsurf industry in it's current form is only in existence because of the European market. If it wasn't for that a lot of companies would have gone down the gurgler already.
Freestyle has brought a lot of young kids into the sport. Don't get me wrong. Waves are great fun but the majority of people simply don't have a wave pool in their neighborhood. The closes to waves you'll get in most inland places for example is the Eisbach in Munich... Plenty of inland lakes though.
Besides, just imagine how crowded that North West OZ wave spot we all like would be it more people would wave sail...
Matt,
Bummer to hear you got your footage ripped off. That's exactly the reason why you won't see professional production companies "from the real world" touch sports like ours. Just look at the amount of windsurf DVDs done by pro sailors where music is blatantly ripped of without getting the musicians prior consent or paying any licensing fees.
I wonder what those pro sailors would think if you go down to the beach, simply grab their gear and go for a sail... hey, I am not stealing. I am only promoting your brand and testing out your gear.
There are some noteworthy exceptions like the guys from Tonix in Germany. Probably the reason why they manage to land sponsors like Red Bull... Professional companies generally like to work with professionals.
