Just found this old school raceboard video on utube that may be of interest to some.

While some things have changed over time like replacing the M course for windward/returns, all the core principles still apply:

Great video; explains some of the black arts of raceboard course racing. Guy Cribb looks about 15yo and gybes beautifully. Found any more gems?

@regal1: there are a few more old RYA videos posted on the "GenesisArchive" utube channel. Most seem to be targeted toward beginner to intermediate and transition to the shorter 'fun' boards of the day. But some do have parts covering raceboards.

I liked how this video linked all the key parts of racing as well as the basics of light and strong wind board trim into one video, covering some of the 'black arts' as you mentioned. There has been a renewed interest in raceboarding around here so thought it was worth sharing this.

I always feel that I'm going quick on my raceboard. I realised at the worlds that if you aren't railing consistently around the course then you're at the back, no matter how fast one feels. Interesting that they didn't bother about changing outhaul or downhaul while racing.

A friend of mine ended up giving me a windsurfing video with Peter Heart hosting it called, "Turning Point". Neat to see how far the boards have come. I'm glad I am able to experience this current generation of equipment. The equipment now is a lot more fun and user friendly than the old school stuff.

Some great tips about body position that I need to work on. I also saw the point of hanging onto the uphaul to change weight focus on rail.

Cool video
Dave Hackford gets a mention. He lives here now on the northern beaches. He is bringing to australia the red paddle board company.
Maybe he will race with us?
