Hey guys whats the quickest, easiest way to the coast from Wagga Wagga?????? I need to escape for a few days DESPERATELY. I've looked at the nsw windsurfing site and checked out the spots but would like some feedback from the locals....I'm good on flat water and small waves and strong wind. Big waves too much just yet. Where to go????? HELP I am going crazy in Wagga and I cant go too far in case THE BABY comes. I figure I've got 4 hours to get back and anyway I'll take the chance. Mothertobe is VERY GRUMPY and I need a break.

What, as the crow fly's ya mean?

And dunno,which way you want to go? East or South?

Mineral, you a honey. I dont really care east or south. I looked at the map and I can see I have a choice of either. I guess the quickest way back is the most important as long as can taste salt water I'll be happy otherwise my tail will drop off!!!

go wagga, tumut via adelong, talbingo, cooma, merimbula. 5-6hrs at a guess

In 1968, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, a record airspeed of 2,070.102 mph (925 m/s) was achieved by a Lockheed YF-12A. The 1989 Guinness Book states that a record airspeed of 2,193.167 mph (980 m/s) was achieved by a Lockheed SR-71-A, which is a newer version of the YF-12A. The online source from the AFAM web page agrees with this number to the thousandths place, and it was recorded 7 years later. As it says, this plane has held this record speed for 24 years.

I am guessing that the lockheed SR-71-A would be the fastest trip to the coast from Wagga.

Hi Suz, Maybe you could go east to Tumut, through to Cooma, down Brown Mountain to Bega. Another choice would be up to Canberra then down the Clyde Mountain to Batemans Bay. Both a little less than 400 Klm.

Susie, I will hook u up with my sister in Callala bay, on Jervis bay, good sailing in and around there, they are arists and would be more than happy to have you for a bit! Callala is just on the coast south of Kiama, near Nowra,

Easiest way to get there, drive to Goulbourn from Wagga, then on highway, turn off at Bowral, then through Kangaroo Valley and down onto coast, think thats right :)

DIRECTIONS: From Wagga Wagga drive toward morning sun - till you see large mass of water (must be salty!). But DO NOT stop there as this area is crap. You now have two choices go left or go right - left is slightly longer than right. Open packet of NO-DOZE and keep eating till all packet is gone. Start driving and do not stop - if police uniforms seem to change do not be perturbed this is an illusion. When you see setting sun over sea relax you are nearly there. At small town called Mandurah (not far from Wagga Wagga) you only have 35 min. drive to get to windsurfing mecca called Safety Bay. Oh and remember - when you leave Safety Bay make sure you keep water on your left - and you will soon be back in Wagga Wagga

Hi Susie-
being an ex-canberra resident I think the best way would be to go up the Hume Highway towards Sydney- take the Illawarra Highway turn-off and head towards Nowra through Kangaroo Valley. Turn left at Nowra and go up the Princes Highway, through Berry and then turn off at Gerroa. This trip took me a bit over two hours from Canberra.
The other option would be to drive through Canberra and head down through Bungendore, Braidwood and Batemans Bay before stopping at Broulee. This trip also takes a bit over two hours from Canberra. Sail off from the main shops and head out across the bay towards the island. Nice bay like conditions that gets a bit of swell in a NE. Usually a good crowd in summer.

Wagga to Wollongong Via the Hume HIghway and Picton Road is precisely 4.5 hours. Suggest turning off at Illawarra highway turning right after Robertson and going down Jamberoo Mountain Road, through Jamberoo to Kiama then 10 mins south on the Princes Hwy will get you to Gerroa in a similar amount of time. I really like the avatar too big gaz. Laughed for ages. Thanks guys. was good to see the sea. Was a really long way. No-one out at Gerroa but looked good. Took a shot of a surfer will post later. Had a sail at Lake Illawarra, lots of weed and jellyfish??? Back here now. Met a local lady windsurfer Cheryl who explained why my toenails turned bright orange/brown. She paints hers.

Just hope she doesn't run into a large saltwater lake on the way there...

Suzie, is the baby that's coming yours?
If so, you shouldn't have to travel very far at all to be where it is coming from.

Next point, is go down the hume to Melbourne, approx 4hrs of continuous freeway. well continuous in Victoria.
