i know which one i clicked on , D.L.S. is the best thing ever
i can finish work and go sailing for 2.5 hours or so its great , these ppl who say aww but the little kids it will upset there bed time , aww DLS messes up all the oldies and there bed times ( my nanna said that she lives in an oldies village ) theyre oldies! the dont even need to get out of bed , what do they have to do all day ? there shopping ? a game of golf perhaps !!! while were slaving away at work paying our taxes there winging about one one hour per day difference! not right i think
yes i understand DLS does have negative effects on a few things but the good certainly outweighs the bad.
phew i feel a bit better now i will get off my soapbox.
oh yea , and i have seriously heard ppl say DLS will fade my curtains C-MON! think about it !!

all these polls are a crock.

all the people that don't want it... are so uptight about it that they have nothing better to do than winge and cry at every opportunity.

all the people that want DLS are cool fonzys and have got better things to do with their lives..unlike me ha ha

just wait your 3 yrs and suffer on the result. cows are not allowed to vote so it will be a definate yay.

Like everyone else, the cows and old people get over it.. Yes, it's lighter outside when Coronation st. is on.. so what!

It is amusing to get the cows in for milking the first few days of daylight saving because instead of being up and ready to walk, they're all still lying around sleeping, and get up in a panic when the bike appears in the paddock.

Actually, I never figured out how come we shifted milkings with daylight saving - it's not like it really matters when you're working outside all day anyway.

NZ has just extended daylight saving by a few weeks. The health benefits of people getting outside and seeing more daylight, coupled with the energy savings of less lighting, heating and TV swung the decision.

Now that we're in DST here, I can get out for a 3 hour session after work, and it's not even mid-summer yet.

Good point 555. DST was originally introduced in Tasssie back in the big drought of 1950 something (?), when the Hydro Electric Commission's dams were under supplied with rain, and electricity production looked like it wouldn't cope with demand. The solution - DST.

I thought it had the opposite effect in Perth though as people come home "earlier" (relative to the sun) so it is hot for a greater percentage of their hometime. Thus they use the aircon and pool pump etc more. Then you tend to stay up a bit later so more TV.
There is less lights in use but the aircon use waaayy over compensated in Perth last summer

D.L.S was voted down in three previous referendums, why does one pollie believe that his constituents know nothing about what they prefer. A three year trial is not a trial, it is an introduction by stealth

Yeah Baby,

Kill of DLS

I have no probs sailing evenings in winter let alone summer.

DLS means more whiney boys down on the beach, grizzling about people like me who'll vote against it.[}:)][}:)]

Only 2 years to go the the beaches are mine once more

(Even Bigger Flame suit fitted and new curtains)

That poll is meaningless. I spent 5 minutes repeatedly submiting my vote and I change the % by 2%. So there's probably a whole bunch of saddos out there doing the same thing.

Reading the various opinions on this news site seems to suggest there is still hope for DLS in WA...
www.perthnow.com.au/

Maybe the ABC is not representative of the wider population....an older, cardigan-wearing demographic springs to mind!

Personally I like DLS, but I won't be surprised if it gets rolled in the referendum...WA has a long and sad history as a 'nanny state'!!

Look what happened when we voted on deregulated shopping hours...defeated by a 60-40 majority...WTF??? [}:)]

The same sad sorry backward-thinking hicks will probably defeat DLS

I know WA's a fantastic place but how is gaylight saving in WA going to affect you in SA?

PS
You may note that with the Pro DSL lobby you don't even have to bait the hook they jump straight into the boat when you show them a faded curtain.

It will get the ar$e again, good riddance.
If you don't like it then get a job when you can sail early enough.
DLS is not necessary for us here in WA as we get plenty of hours of daylight all year round. It is used during summer in the higher latitudes of the northern hemisphere as they get very short daylight hours in winter so wish to maximise their summer daylight hours to compensate. We are not in this situation, so it is pointless.
Additionally the argument of business in the west being able to operate better with the east doesn't make sense. After all how does the USA manage when they have more time zones than us? They have a much larger economy which i'm sure copes just fine.
You want daylight savings then go live in Europe where it makes sense.
