Hey hey all,

I've decided to give this windsurfing thing a shot over summer this year so am hunting around for some gear on here and ebay. I've found a nice 'everything i need' kit, but am unsure about the board displacement. It's 264cm and 152Litres, and i'm about 180cm and 103kgs. I read somewhere that as a very rough guide you can pretty much match up weight and displacement, but i wanted some expert opinions, will 152litres be enough for me to learn on?

let me hazard a guess - F2 Xantos Stoke of 152 litres and 264 cm ??
long enuff and float for someone of my weight
and not far off from my first shortboard of 160 litres and 267 cm
however, this was after 10 years of longboarding
my colleague bought a BIC Techno II 160 when returning back to windsurfing after 10 years away - thx to me :)
he sold his board after 3 years and purchased a Fanatic Hawk 135.
he wished he had started with that board ....
i still use my 160 after 3 years and am loving it in light winds

so, beg borrow and steal b4 you buy !!!
see if you can rent one or take a lesson on a similiar board first
i still use my longboard 50 % of the time cuz we live in a lite wind area
more than 45% is then on the 160 with a 10-oh or 8-oh
the rest is with a used Fanatic BEE LTD 124 for higher winds - still waiting :(

so, it depends on you and where you are
for heavyweights there are always extra considerations
however, Kevin Pritchard, Josh Angulo and Antoine Albeau are ALL heavyweights
- we have a lot to aspire to !!!!

Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably grab this kit as it has everything else i need, and i'll hunt around for a beginner board. This way will have something to upgrade to as well.
