Hello everybody,

I am a keen windsurfer from Germany. Like many ambitious windsurfers I like to put together videos of the sessions I had. This one is a very special one to me as it captures the sessions that I had this winter while working as a German teacher in Southern France near Marseille.
You can check out more stuff like this on our website rock-n-rohwurst.de (German language) or on my blog matswindsurfingpage.blogspot.com (English)

Here's the link to the video:

The new Rock-n-Rohwurst production is the sequel of the already very successful first video about windsurfing in Southern France published some months ago.

The major challenge was trying to make the best out of difficult conditions and later the best out of bad-light-footage. It’s not summer, it’s winter! We want to show what windsurfing in Southern France is really like – far from stereotypical images of palm beaches and turquoise waters. In this clip the windsurfing takes place near the Rhône rivermouth where the oil-industry provides a dark background that clashes with pictures of the infamous flamingos and natural salt water lakes. You can nearly feel the cold and smell the oil even though the deceiving blue of a sky that has been deprived of clouds by the strong mistral winds suggests some warmer temperatures. This video is the result of our passion for the sport of windsurfing. Its goal is to provide its spectators with some quality images despite it being a no-budget production. Just like the first Rock-n-Rohwurst production the video is a result of a collaboration between Mathias Genkel as the windsurfer, his girlfriend Julia behind the camera and Johannes Neumann as the editor who edited this whole piece within three days!

Now sit back, put it on full screen, switch on the volume and enjoy! Ah, don’t miss our special-guest in the end-credits…

Again, all filmed with a very simple pocket-camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1

Comments, suggestions or questions are always welcome!

Very very good. Edited in three days is a special effort. Bet there were sleepless nights there? Im sure you have seen our own editor/ filmer/ producer extraordinaire Matt from Reflex films. His stuff is special too. Having done some minor editing and use of after effects software can appreciate the amount of work there.
AWESOME STUFF

Winter looks pretty good there too. Ours has been ordinary so far.... Bring on the fronts Huey

Fantastic! Music really captures the "on a high" feeling of windsurfing. Love it.

1. What bad light?
2. Great sailing. Makes me want to concentrate on freestyle only. Hmmm, maybe Haircut does know what he's talking about.
3. The brown RRD sail is the best looking sail. Ever. Period. Ever (ever).
4. Styling. I sat back with some Gluehwein and really enjoyed that. You Euros make everything look good. Except diving in football. And song competitions.
5. You captured the feeling.

...the infamous flamingos

You should see our infamous drop-bears.

The photography and editing was as good as anything I've seen elsewhere, or better, be it skate, snowboard, BMX etc. Ich bin sehr, sehr beeindruckt.

I sat up all night translating your site:

What software did you use to edit this? And the layering for multiple effect - how did you do this?

Nice work btw!

Matgen, any chance you could upload in HD? That would really be the icing on the cake. Really, really smooth edit.
