Hi guys,

I’m new to windsurfing in the Melbourne area and wonder which spots work on a north / north-west / west wind day as forecasted for saturday. Which spots in the metro area work best and is it worth driving down to Point Danger on a north/west wind day?

Thanks and see you on the water!

Tobi, Green Point at Brighton (end of South Road)would be my first choice in a northerly. The more west it turns, the more likely Point Ormond (end of Glenhuntly Road) will work. On all but the really big days, I've found that there is a lot less wind at south end of the bay ie Rye on the Mornington Peninsula. Not sure whether that means the same for Point Danger, but I'd expect a northerly there to be pretty crap. If someone can convince me otherwise, I'd be making the trip down there more often. Cheers

yep, Green point is the place to go -> some tips:

- lots of grass to rig your gear
- you have to pay for parking; there is usually plenty unlesss it is a hot day
- dont launch too close to the rock wall
- the parking area is about 5 knots stronger than on the water

Pt Danger in a Northerly? Daaaaaaaaah Nup.

If you have wavegear go Greens point.
if freeride gear Pt Ormond.

Best winds
