I need to buy a boom that extends to about 2.15 meters. This is for my NP RS6 7.2 I bought recently. My current boom, a NP carbon, doesn't quite extend that far and I can't get any outhaul on the sail. Consequently its baggy with negative outhaul. Every time I sailed it, the sail felt very full and too pully.

So I want to buy a boom. I want to get a boom with minimum extension of around 2 meters and extends to around 2.5 meters.

I like my carbon boom but I am not spending more than $300. So I either have the choice of a new aluminium boom or a second hand carbon boom. There is a carbon boom for sale in Sydney which would be suitable.

My current carbon boom was bought second hand and it feels strong, stiff and when it comes down to it, right.

I bought an X-6 boom from Sam and from memory it was around $300 but my memory's a little foggy. It's a carbon back end with alloy front and mine seems pretty stiff, even when it's at full extension on the 8.2.

I bought a Maui Sails Alu boom a few months ago. 160cm-210cm. Its got the same head as the Maui Sails carbon boom and is very robust and easy to use. I can say that its a very well made boom and is quite stiff in comparison to my previous Loft and North Sails Silver Series boom.

Love my ProLimit Hybrid (carbon rear) Stiff and a good head....and a bonus is it is easy on the hands!

Another vote for the Prolimit Hybrid, however they only go up to 240. There may be a bigger size coming soon though.

The mauisails alloys also look very nice and feel solid, they come in big sizes too.

In the end I bought a Gaastra aluminum boom for $189 off David Ford at Gybesports. I tried it out yesterday and its fine. I actually bought a board off him too, a Tabou 105. I was looking for a smaller board to go with my Tabou 140. Now I have its little brother!

Thanks for the advice. I plan to win lotto soon and then I will get a new carbon boom.
