I was having a nice sail this afternoon on Lake Macquarie until a friend came cruizing up beside me. My board is 2.5m long and it was longer than that. Looked like a bull shark to me. About the same time the wind started to die so I called it a day. Until next time my friend.

Just off shingle splitters, near Bonnells Bay. There have been a lot of sightings lately down this way.

It would be unreal to be using a helmet mounted Gopro and to film a greet suited friend swimming with you

Dean - do you think they are atracted by the power station outfall?

Years ago Harry Hayward and I sailed wallies 100m up the outfall canal to have a look - blown away by the marine life

Yeah the power station has made it like bath water. The thing that surprised me was how close it came up to me. If I bent down I could of grabbed it's fin. Funny thing was it didn't scare me, I just pumped the sail a few times and took off. See how quick you can swim now buddy.

not sure i trust the source (random google link) but...

"when they are chasing food or escaping enemies, some can swim very fast, up to forty miles per hour."

thats just shy of 35 knots on an empty stomach. pretty quick huh?
