I have recently moved to Hong Kong from Perth and I want to get my windsurfing gear sent over here. Has anybody had any experience doing this, and is there a recommended company to do it through?

I've been looking into this myself as I will be moving to the grim winter of northern Europe in a few weeks time.
My only suggestion (having found no real alternatives yet) is to pack everything up really well - tons of bubble wrap in addition to any board/sail bag(s) you might have (and if not see if any of the shops in Perth can help with discarded cardboard boxes they receive new gear in). If you have a lot of gear you might use an international removalist or if not use I've looked into the sea mail rates (insured of course) to post internationally and that seems a good option if you don't need it in a hurry. I have just come back from living in HK for 6 years.
If i was honest i would not bother.
The wind is fickle and unless you have a big apartment and car you are better off renting at Tei mei tuk in new territories or St stephens in stanley on HK island or in Sai Kung
Only decent sailing is on the islands but a pain to get to. Most sailing is RSX or mistral type race. Oct is the only decent time of the year with NE monsoon but I would spend your money travelling.
Penghu in Taiwan, Borocay,Vietnam etc

Thanks for your help. We are living in Mo Tat Wan on Lamma Island so it will be quite convenient once I have my gear. I would only bother bringing over my formula gear though. Slalom would be great on the occasional windy days but I would be too worried about hitting rubbish at high speed. I will check out some freight options and let you know what I find out.
