I'm wondering if any of you have/had/remember sailing the Mistral 84 L Syncro? pdf.nauticexpo.com/pdf/mistral/mistral-08/21423-4933-_9.html I think they had this design for only a couple of years. The reason I ask is because I feel like I need to be fully powered on my 4.6 to get this board to plane, like maybe 22 knot minimum (I'm 67 kg). Otherwise it's slugsville and comes off a plane super easy.

Use a 5.3.
It's narrow, slight rocker, needs wind.
Great bump n jump board.

I've got a 90lt round the same vintage that I still use. I'm 95kg, but I'll happily use up to a 6.2 on it, 29 cm fin. So agreed with Lee you can put a bigger sail on it, no worries. I find mine planes up really easy. Still a fun board for b and J. I picked mine up for a song. Was in great condition, close to the best 100 bucks I ever spent.

I got mine for $140 cdn in great shape, so it was definitely a good deal. I feel like I'm often on the edge between being overpowered and slogging. Gusty wind doesn't help. It's good to hear that the board should work out for me. I just need to keep plugging away and improving.

At 75 kgs in the late '90's, I could uphaul it.
Now, same weight, I need 90 liters to uphaul.
But now I'm 72.

I had it out again yesterday, maybe 20-24 knots. I rigged a 5.0 and played with the mast foot position a bit. Seemed to work better with the mast a bit more forward. It was a good day (although cold at 6 C).

Depending on slalom or wave, my mast foot to center of front strap goes from 24" down to 18" for manuever based wave riding.
