I know this has been shown in the past while it was in beta. For those who haven't seen it yet, BOM has a pretty cool forecasting / weather obs tool called MetEye. In a nutshell it pull together various resources from the BOM web sites and displays them on a map. Animated wind / wave forcasts? Check. Wind observations? Check. Weather radar overlay? Check.

I used to say I allocate all my tax dollars to the ABC rather than the ADF fighting stupid wars in foreign countries. I'm now splitting it 50/50 with BOM.

If anyone from BOM happens to read this. Here a few features that would be nice:

- ability to save and share map views
- increased map area
- improve browser experience on a tablet (eg get rid of browser and page chrome to prevent need for scrolling)

Meteye is rubbish. Two BOM forecasters that often predict completely different results. I find the old forecaster the most accurate.

Although with the old forcaster, they added two pull down menu's to select region and time zone. This created confusion.

I say to BOM: stick to forecasting and not trying to turn BOM site into a phone app.

Yeah the BOM ain't too bad. I was just being facetious and was referring to their disclaimer
"Please be aware
Wind gusts can be 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height"

My biggest gripe is where they have (not so) strategically positioned our local weatherstation in respect to wind readings. Majority of our wind comes from the SE but the station is placed in a windshadow for the predominant wind pattern i.e. wind graph will be showing 13kn with gusts 20kn when in reality it's 5knots more.
