Hi Lucky Bay Sailors, The two orange Marker Buoys appear to have long lead ropes. Result a very painful and damaging CATAPOLT today when the rope caught my skeg (fin) and I came to a full stop. Lets shorten the rope?! Any ideas, I am sure that I will not be the only casualty.

What kinda bouys are they? Are they something someones set up recently? If they've been set as gybe marks by someone just jump off next to them and coil up/tie the excess up on a high tide.
just leave a bit of slack to account for different tidal highs.

I have to deal with crab trap bouys and slalom ski bouys, always keep in mind wind direction when passing and stay on leeward side if possible, or give a wide berth on windward side, and that is with a 95 cm foil. But I like the idea of tieing off the rope at high tide.

Somebody said to me they were crab pots...if so, cut loose...but if a marker, definitely shorten. However, the Rivers/Harbours Dept or whatever they're called do not like "unofficial" buoys or markers in the river....

There used to be two poles there and I went between them and fin hit the sand bar coz it was too shallow and it was messy...i think they're in about the same spot...dunno what happened to the poles...

Still wondering which of the (at least) 3 Lucky Bays I'm aware of in WA
Gather the river as the last post mentions the sand bar....
