Just jumped on their website, and in big bold blue writing across the front of the page, they state that they are no longer selling windsurfing or kitesurfing equipment.

Anybody know the background?

Have they cleared out their floorstock? Are there any bargains going?

They were bought by Wind Surf n Snow, who will occupy the Long Reef northside shop at Collaroy. I'm pretty sure they are selling all the things that Long Reef did (eg. Gaastra sails).

The southside store will only sell wetsuits and surfing accessories.

There were plenty of bargains going, but not sure if they're still available.

So much for competition.[}:)]

No need to worry about a lack of competition or a monopoly on the market through WSS. Adrian Levy and Rhys Herbert from longreef sailboards brightom le sands will be opening a new retail outlet in Taren Pt. The new outlet will be in operation for the up-coming summer season. We are still in the process of deciding exactly what brands we will be carrying, but alot of new brands previously not avaliable in sydney will now be avaliable, anybody who would like more info please drop us an e-mail at [email protected] and we can give you all info you need.Or you can come up to the Birubi wave classic 20/21 of august and have a chat with us there as we will both be attending this event.
The aim of this new shop is to promote the sport to new comers with our passion and drive to see windsurfing continue to grow in sydney and to serve long time windsurfers and all our customers with the best products, the best knowledge and the best service avaliable.

I look Forward to seeing you all at our opening BBQ (TBA)

Shuee in regards to your warranty claim the Gaastra importer is actually windgear not longreef and neither have gone belly up (except for ths windsurfing and kitesurfing part of longreef). Windgear is still trading as the gaastra importer and should be able to take care of any warranty claims for gaastra products.

With all this movement in the retail area of windsurfing, can anyone tell me who will own this new ECB/WSS/LR store?

I would like to know as there are certain people in the industry in NSW that I will NOT do business with. I think I will have to join my friends and get my equipment shipped from the West.

Osama Bin Laden will be running the shop.
I will not do business with him either.[}:)]

Osama!, I'd consider doing business with him , I wouldn't consider doing business with one particular group in Sydney.

Just for the record

Long Reef Sailboards and Surf - Peter and David Ford are now trading as Long Reef Surf at 1012 Pittwater Rd Collaroy and 116 The Grand Parade Brighton Le Sands. 02 9982 4289 or 02 9599 2814 We are no longer retailing windsurfing and kiteboarding equipment. The windsurfing and kiteboarding store at Anzac Ave Long Reef was sold to Wind Surf and Snow including all it's stock and is now trading along with Sam Parker of ECB. As far as who's in control and who owns it, I'd ask them, ring them on 02 9971 0999.

Wind Gear Pty Ltd is the importer of Gaastra, Tabou, T1 in Australia and continues to operate all dealer enquiries can be directed to 02 9971 0998 and email [email protected]. www.windgear.com.au

For any warranty information regarding Gaastra and Tabou you can contact Wind Gear Pty Ltd as has been the case since March 2004.

regards
