I was just watching a YouTube video of some speed sailing and it got me to thinking about ideal locations in WA.

Lake Walyungup is the "salt" lake area inland from Safety Bay, where the land sailing club is. (its actually gypsum, not salt)
When the sea breeze is in it powers across that dead flat salt pan area and the water is usually pretty flat, i.e. not much chop.

Does anyone have any idea how deep that lake is? I wonder if CALM would give you access to it, seeing as how the land sailors are already there?

here is a link to the satellite image

Drive past it occassionallyb when there is a strong seabreeze, and it looks very flat. However, what makes it so flat I presume, is how shallow it is? And it also looks very murky so would be difficult to see the bottom, my impression has always been too dangerous?? Hopefully I'm wrong?

But you could presumably only sail Waly boards there

Yeah pink lake if you r on a landsailer

Lake Dumbleyung on the way down (almost halfway) has always made me curious but think much of it is only deep in winter.... and when I drive to Perth it is 7.5hrs so I can't really be buggered stopping for a sail!!!

Unable to tell..... as a rough guide, the physio said I can sail when I can run on it. Makes sense.
I have walked as fast as I can (as fast as u can without running) for 30m, no pain. Walking all day, no pain. Laps in pool and running in pool between laps, little bit sore but a tired sore (good pain not bad pain if that makes sense) ......... so I think I could sail B&J in 20kn now easy... but maybe not advisable. I'll give it another two weeks at least before a gentle sail. Month before waves.... but by then the season is over so I won't do proper wavesailing til about late May anyhow

M_A Bloody gunna be sore when you hit the water. Not the foot, the overall body after a couple of sails
I missed 8 weeks and only have two days with stuff all breeze, could hardly get up on plane, came home each night.. Big grin on dial but
Hang in there, sounds like your near done

Nah should be right: been doing so much rehab / cycling etc that my cardio is prolly a little better than average.
I have been trying to do exercises to replicate windsurfing but not many exercise replicate the pulling back motion on the shoulders and upper back. About the closest thing I can think of is running flat out on the beach, and grabbing chicks in a big bear hug then trying to hold on.... might get me in trouble .... ???
