Is good fun practicing push loops had attempted about 6 over the course of the arvo and was getting in a nice groove by about 4.30 it was quite windy 4.2 when tis nice sized peak showed up hit it well went nice and high and started to pull it around then all I remember was wack in the side of the head and then waking up face down on the sail under water coughing **** which way up!!!!! head popped up no colour just all black and white, salt water coming out mouth and nose
After about a minuet or two the colour came back and got my self together flicked the sail up to find the main panel big hole
Sailed back to the beach and drove home with a headache
The moral of the story is to wear a ****n helmet when going for the big stuff ok

Spot1, yep, but not just going for the big one, my crash cost $3500, and that wasnt any cost to my gear, just me And it was getting belted in flat water.
Wife asked where the hell was my helmet, hanging in my shed of course (didnt want to wear it out)
Soooo now it goes on every time. Best bit of gear I have.

Much as I support wearing helmets, don't think they protect your teeth!
Unless you have a visor down, then you can't see.

Do you know what actually happened because I consider the pushloop a 'fairly' safe move even when overpowered? They can go south in 2 ways from my experience. One is if you hit the top of the mast on the wave - usually results in a nose dive ala a under rotated backloop where the rig is totally underpowered as it is almost always pointing dead downwind. The second is if you push out too late and you land on top of your gear - once again pretty safe as it will never happen if you're really high and as long as you keep a solid hold of the boom it's fine. I've never even come close to hurting myself trying them but if this is some new epic way to KO yourself I'd like to know so I can attempt to avoid it :o Glad you're okay.

Decrepit, inverted, or that’s what I think I was, mast first right side near lug hole, then into boom. Teeth firmly clenched, you can imagine the rest still not enough skills, thinking I was near 21 again.

Hmmm maybe wouldn’t have saved the pearlies , but sh1t at the time I wished I had it on to prove one way or the other
Any way my new look
The moral is I bloody had it and was too stuffin lazy to put it on, dunno why.
But each time I look at somebody with a new set of sails for the next year I will be reminded of it

Got catapulted face first into mast tonight on a speed run doing 60kmh.

Once again Thank you Mr Gath

The bruise on my forehead was achieved whilst being Behind a fixed visor which gives 1-1/2" clearance to my forehead. Must say I howled like a baby laying on my board for a few minuted before I got my act together and sailed in.

The knees also have some nice swelling from also connecting with the mast.

Helmets GOOD, Elmo Clumsy

Alby

Any prang you can walk away from still hurts

Elmo, remember and write this down 1000 times.
Must turn head when catapulting, otherwise end up looking like MineralFlash one big new smile, A
No money for new sails, mast booms fixing dents in boards and have to keep gear for long long time. Other wise end up at end of season with all gear big bugger up. and you be doing only max 6kph and not the required 60kph

Nah no helmet, they look gay! I had a bad stack last week at seal island, went for a forward and as I jumped realised the wave was pitching too high and just at the point u rotate I bailed, but didn't realise I had accidently hooked in. So the rig flipped and took me with it.Landed on my boom - nice! Imagine if I had landed it though, the worlds first no hands no feet forward.

With the way I look (and sail), the gay image would be the least of my problems
