Hi all,
I would like to inform the windsurfing community that we have organised a kiteboarding competition at the Pond- Safety Bay on the 1st or 8th of December.
I hope this will not be too inconveient to you guys, I know there is a strong presence of windsurfing at this location.
All the competitors will be instructed to be courteous to our fellow water users, and event marshalls will control our riders movements to try and avoid any over crowding.
I would like to ask that for 1 day we can hold priority over the inside flat water section of the pond. This is going to be a high profile competition, with some of the countries top riders and international talents participating. It should be a great show, come along and check it out!

Hi all,
thanks for the responses, I will pass on the word to the competing kiteboarders, and emphasise that courtesy be given to all other water users, and to give the area a wide berth on the 2nd when you guys host your event.
We have a risk mitigation plan in place, and approved with the council, we will be having a pre-ride skippers briefing on the day of the event, to deal with specific safety and courtesy issues on the day.
We have a number of measures in place to hopefully eliminate any incidents, and we intend to have a full time event official posted on the down-wind side of the bay, as a buffer to catch any runaway kites, and to assist in gear and kiter recovery. (It should not be neccessary as all riders will have mandatory kite leashes fitted... but we want to cover all eventualities- particularly in strong winds).
I have not contacted the local skippers, as the 3 yachts previously moored there seem to have moved, so we should have no impact on the boating community. The Water authority has been contacted through the Rockingham council, and have no concerns with the current planned format of the event.
Any further queries are welcome, we still have a few weeks in hand to smooth out any issues...
Kind regards
