it's strange that shark attacks grab everyone's attention but when someone is killed in a car crash well it's just another accident but we should be more worried about surviving on the roads than in the water

Dont know if it would help much but in a situation like that I think Id rather have a sailboard to crawl up onto rather than be attached to a little skateboard size thingy..

I guess that would depend upon the size of the shark(s) and numbers.

Just a wilde guess but a 6 meter great white would probably eat you AND your board lunch.

this guy almost qualifys for a Darwin award.

kiting in waters during a "shark migration"
where most the beaches were closed due to "thousands of shark sightings"

Dont think so, with the amount of windsurfers, kitesurfers in WA and VIC who kite and windsurf every day, when do you ever hear of a shark attack on a windsurfer or kiter??? I have never heard of any And in VIC, I have never heard of any one, even seen a great wight, while out kiting and windsurfing

I'm pretty sure a windsurfer was eaten by a shark in SA around 10 years ago. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A mate of mine was surfing St Andrews with three others a month ago. A seal jumped out of the water 50m away and then a GW jumped out after it. Never heard of anything like that in Vic.

If I recall correctley - No body was found just a shredded wetty, It could have been a KO/drowning and an opportunistic scavenger.
I beleive there was a similar case in WA with a Euro windsurfer.

Corect more like 12 ,13 years ago in the Spencer gulf on the Yorke Peninsula side.Very windy day when he got in trouble with his gear? Quite possibly out in conditions he could not handle. I was out in the gulf on the other side it was extreme. But as Choco said I would be more concerned on the road with the amount of out of control grommets with mum and dad sponsered V8 utes.

quote from the link "Police are investigating"

Investigating what??? Are they going to find and charge the shark? Maybe they are concerned with a wind v kite turf war and have concerns the shark was sympathetic to the windsurfer??

Reporters crack me up.

Here: www.sharkattackfile.net/incidentlog.htm you can download a list of worldwide documented sharkattacks, and not many of them are related to windsurfing and only 3 to kitesurfing!
