Does that mean Jesper will have to give back the 93 Futura. I always thought that the only way anybody could get that board was to pry it from his cold lifeless hands.

That X-fire 80 should see you moving up the WA GPS Speed Table. It looks just the ticket for our waters on the windier days.

Jesper came 7th in the LOC and Annika came 2nd in the womens on X-fires.

Darryl was on a 86 isonic and got similar speeds as Jesper, but knowing Jesper he got the top speed out in the middle of the river with 2 ft chop!

I've been sailing the Xfire's for the last few weeks now (the 90 and 102 mostly), and I have been really enjoying them. Especially when powered up in the ocean, which in the past I've found too difficult/too much work.

The RRD's sit nice and flat on the water (the nose doesn't lift when overpowered), hadnles the chop really nicely and is easy to gybe. Speed seems effortless, as with the added control, you don't tend to realise how fast your going until you check the GPS or find a friend to drag with.

Compared with other slalom boards, I've found the RRD's easier, more controllable in the chop, but still just as fast.

The main differece I've noticed compared to the Isonics is the more drawn in tail, and slightly rounder rails. The also have a bit more vee and double concave. As a result the RRD's require less power in your legs to maintain the trim in chop than I've found with other modern slalom boards: ie the board doesn't rail up. Although, being a light weight in the windsurfing world I tend to get overboarded more easily than most.

Had a good blast on the 80 yesterday too... this board had the potential to go pretty quick I think.

I've just weighed the ninety x-fire that we have in the shop & it comes out at 5.6 kg.
Exactly the weight specified! ( minus straps & fin) We've sold all the others so we can't say 100% that they all are on the nail, though they are guaranteed to be +-6%.
We have more on order & are hoping to get them in a couple of weeks, so we'll know then. The 122 & 135 won't be available until the end of Feb, and I must say that even for a mere mortal like me the x-fire 122 is the sweetest 'large' slalom board I've ridden.
It has the same charicteristics as the smaller boards as far as its speed, comfort, manouverability & control go. It really does feel like a smaller board.
If anyone does want to try out the boards, whether the X-fires, freestyle waves
( which I tried yesterday - excellent) thruster or Longrider, give us a hoy & we can arrange it.
