What answer are you looking for?
An answer from a beginner, intermediate or advanced windsurfer?

I personally think that by having the right speed and the right wave determines how much air you get.

actually not to hard but you rarely see it because most windsurfers prefer to get air when no-one is looking.

That's what sets us apart from the dingle-dangle crowd

If you windsurf in outer space its hard to get air, because there isn't any up there. You'd need a space suit. But then your harness won't fit. Best to avoid it.

The best way to get air is by inhaling through your nose. It goes deep into your lungs and results in more oxygen to your body. It seems to be easy to me, but then again, I have been doing it since I can remember.

BTW; I find getting air on the windsurfer is as easy as on land. The only problem I have is getting air when Im under water but scuba devices help in that regard.

Compared to kiting, everything about windsurfing is hard:

Getting your kit to the beach
Learning
Planing
Tricks
Airs

Anyone know why we bother...?

Paul the apostle also said something similar to that to the people in Ephesians in an epistle he wrote?

To quote a former great leader
"Life wasn't meant to be easy"

Yes folks, widsurfing is penance. We may be miserable now but we will rejoice in the rapture and live in eternal bliss in the (when was it Nebs?) not too distant future.

Those have f^&k all to do with windsurfing, so here is some more......

"Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell

To be born free is an accident, to live free is a responsibility, but
to die free is an obligation.
- John Ben Shepperd

"An unarmed man can only flee from evil,
and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it."
Jeff Cooper

"I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted,
and I won't be layed a hand on.
I don't do these things to other people,
and I require the same from them"
J.B. Books (John Wayne)

"An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good
when one may have to back up his acts with his life."
-Robert A. Heinlein

The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred
as the laws of God, and there is not a force of law and public justice to
protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.
- John Adams

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. Tolerance in the face of
tyranny is no virtue."
-Barry Goldwater

Those who live by the sword will be shot by those who don't...
-Unknown

and most importantly:

A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the car I drove. But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child

When does the penance stop? Specifically, looking like a total kook in front of about a hundred assembled surfers and the east coast's best wavesailors who were all out enjoying the wind and waves while I continue to get bashed around in the shorebreak, unable to get out the back voluntarily. Hypothetically of course. Not like it happened today at the alley. Again

gotta love bill hicks.

- Children are smarter than any of us. Know how I know that? I don't know one child with a full time job and children

- I have never seen two people on pot get in a fight because it is ****ing IMPOSSIBLE. "Hey, buddy!" "Hey, what?" "Ummmmmmm...." End of argument

- A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. You think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a ****ing cross? It's like going up to Jackie Onassis wearing a rifle pendant.

- Your denial is beneath you, and thanks to the use of hallucinogenic drugs, I see through you

- Because you know if you play New Kids on the Block albums backwards they sound better. "Oh come on, Bill, they're the New Kids, don't pick on them, they're so good and they're so clean cut and they're such a good image for the children." **** that! When did mediocrity and banality become a good image for your children? I want my children to listen to people who ****ing ROCKED! I don't care if they died in puddles of their own vomit! I want someone who plays from his ****ing HEART!

- You ever noticed how people who believe in Creationism look really unevolved? You ever noticed that? Eyes real close together, eyebrow ridges, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day" Yeah, looks liked He rushed it.

- We all pay for life with death, so everything in between should be free.

- It's always funny until someone gets hurt. Then it's just hilarious.

- I've learned a lot about women. I think I've learned exactly how the fall of man occured in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, and Adam said one day, "Wow, Eve, here we are, at one with nature, at one with God, we'll never age, we'll never die, and all our dreams come true the instant that we have them." And Eve said, "Yeah... it's just not enough is it?"

- The worst kind of non-smokers are the ones that come up to you and cough. That's pretty ****ing cruel isn't it? Do you go up to cripples and dance too?

- I love the Pope, I love seeing him in his Pope-Mobile, his three feet of bullet proof plexi-glass. That's faith in action folks! You know he's got God on his side.

- I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

Doesnt it say in there somewhere that "one day is as a thousand years??"

And when Eve offered the fruit to Adam DID HE HAVE TO TAKE IT????

My favourite quote is from Tim Winton

"There is nowhere else I'd rather be,
nothing else I would prefer to be doing.
I am at the beach looking west with the
continent behind me as the sun tracks
down to the sea. I have my bearings."

Being landlocked, having visited the sea over here and the sun sets in the WRONG place, this is especially poignant to me right now. and Mineral, the baby is ON THE WAY so it looks like APRIL FOOLS to me.
