Autumn and Winter can seem to last forever so this year I decided to keep track of days sailed so next year I can prepare myself mentally for the leaner periods. It would be great to get comments on whether this season was bad, average or exceptionally good for you compared to past seasons. Interstate comparisons would also make for interesting reading.

Pretty average over winter down here. The low systems that usually provide strong W to S/W seemed to be travelling through further north, giving those strong winds to southern WA, SA and Vic, while we mostly had the milder NW winds which have subsequently dumped record rainfalls over winter. (Wettest for over 50 years in Hobart).

As winters go in Perth, I'd give it 8.5/10. August and September have been particularly solid.

Pretty crappy.I've been trying to get out as often as possible to keep some fitness but since May I think I've had half hr of 20kts WNW rest 8 - 12kts.. B highs have been blocking the westerlies and pushing them further south.
Actually.. I think we did have about 2 good days of 20 - 25kts WNW that I missed..

I buggered my back up at the end of January, had a operation on it in early July and had my first sail a couple of weeks ago. So no sailing for me but I didn't miss out on much anyway.

Summer is looking sweet.

Sounded like good timing Moby. If it had to happen you chose the right winter.

That's our windy season (FNQ) except this year has been the worst I can remember by far So sad for us because summer is our off season so nothing to look forward to except a trip to WA

Winter in Sydney equals absolute crap!!!

This winter was terrible in Sydney.

Winter 2008 - 7 sessions (all on slalom, no formula gear)
Winter 2009 - 6 sessions (all on formula gear)

Last year I didn't have Formula gear and managed 7 sessions on the slalom gear in comparison. This year, not 1 session on slalom gear.

I am required to keep a paragliding log which I have been doing since 1990. I transferred the book to a spreadsheet and I've been entering all the fun stuff I do since 2004.

This winter has been excellent. The autumn glass off only lasted a couple of weeks and the surf was good at that time so we were loving it.

The winter northerlies have been exceptionally consistent with every weekend having one or both days ridable.

Normally in winter we have to ride stormy westerlies but this year it's been mostly northerlies. A bit gusty but mostly sunny and strong. Last Friday-Saturday we had 40-50 knots and sunshine then 25 knot WSW on Sunday.
