Just tweaked mine as some were sagging. Although soft straps may felt more comfortable, I prefer stiffer so I can lean on them and have more control.

How about you?

If you carry your board by hand using the strap as a handle. Does the strap feel soft and squishy like a noodle or stiff like a hard plastic suitcase handle?

NP straps are horrible and stretchy , Dakine are slippery , JP and Starboard are just right.

I like mine made of leather. Just the right amount of sting. I don't think soft and squishy would work too well.

Oh wait..

Leather is good , because you can bite down on them when when extracting an arrow.

I've recently bought a cheap secondhand board because it had 4 newish JP straps. Sold it with Dakaine straps . The things we do . Ps, JP straps are $30 a pop. Big bucks. That's if you can get them, which you can't.

I love my Simmer straps. Cheap, durable and very padded.
Being forced to run booties I absolutely tear through straps and these last the longest other than the starboard foam race ones which aren't suitable for waves.

Can I express my hatred of booties. They are great until, we'll never. I'll put up with my wife pulling out urchin spines with a tweezer twice a year . Walking in that nice fluffy sea grass until . In the last 3 years I got one razor clam slice, lucky for beer I didn't need stitches. Really should have got stitches . Booties are like rooting with a condom , not the same .
S'pose I'll re think my ways next time the wife's tweezers don't cut it and I'm in Queensland's finest emergency ward.

Water is 10 degrees here in high summer, down to 1 in the winter. I have nerve damage in fingers and toes from the cold.
